We All Scream for … Energy Efficiency!
With all of these cute dessert trucks—Dessert Truck, Treats Truck, and the original Mister Softee—cruising around New York City streets it got me thinking… If obesity is growing problem in the United States, why do we aid it by bringing dessert even closer to our little apartments? I love sweets so I’m not complaining, but why not take a good idea- trucks selling goodies- and make it a great idea?!
Here comes the Energy Efficienty Truck! Why not bring energy efficient light bulbs to the people? You could help people save money with each stop. Consumers could recycle old light bulbs in exchange for energy efficient CFLs or LEDs. A mobile energy efficiency store could be particularly useful to bring products to low-income neighborhoods. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also known as the Stimulus Bill, allocates $5 billion to weatherize the homes of as many as 1 million low-income people. Low income families could most benefit from lower energy bills. If you’ve got a truck (preferably one that runs on biofuel) I’ll bring the light bulbs and the government’s can help with the funding.
