New York City Earth Day Events
Attention New Yorkers, on April 22nd green will own the party scene in honor of Earth Day. Events range from educational events to fashion shows. No matter your scene, its a great day to take some time to think about how we can make the earth better than we found it.
Here are some of great April 22nd events in New York City worth checking out:
Zero Net Energy Buildings hosted by The New York Academy of Sciences is a panel discussion on the reality of a building that creates more energy than it consumes from start to finish. Event starts at 6pm. Located at The New York Academy of Sciences Conference Center at 7 WTC, 40th floor 250 Greenwich Street (at Barclay St.). The Green Confessions Party hosted by Zipcar is a party where you can confess your less than eco-sins such as not always recycling through twitter at the event. If you’re already a Zipcar member, just show your ID for access to the party. If you sign up a friend at the event you get $75 in driving credit. That’s more than most people get for confessing. Located at BLVD at 199 Bowery (at Spring St.) from 6-9pm.
The Earth Night Planet Party hosted by Green Drinks NYC and Earth Day New York boasts a memorable night complete with cocktails, appetizers, a DJ, and a fashion show featuring local retailers. Tickets are $30 at the door/$20 in advance with a percentage of the proceeds benefiting Earth Day New York. Event runs 6-10pm. In conjunction with Earth Day, site-specific artist Michele Brody has constructed five grass-sprouting skirts for display in the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center. “Each living, lace garment hangs individually off armatures made from recycled copper piping that will support the growth of Native Purple Love grass, indigenous to the Hudson River waterfront.” This event runs 7am-11pm all week.
