It takes over 450 years for an oil-based plastic soda bottle to break down according to the US Energy Administration. That means if George Washington were to throw out a plastic bottle when he took office it would still be another 217 years before it would become obsolete. Think about all the progress we’ve made since that point. It’s time to make sure we leave a greater legacy than a planet covered in used plastic.
